ROB WILSON
DIRECTOR OF SPORTS MEDIA RELATIONS


Rob Wilson begins his 13th season with the HEAT and his 10th as Director of Sports Media Relations. He originally joined the HEAT as Assistant Director of Sports Media Relations in August of 1999 before being promoted to his current position in September of 2002. Wilson is responsible for the HEAT’s day-to-day and game-night media operations and assists Vice President, Sports Media Relations Tim Donovan with daily player and coach interviews. In addition, he travels with the team and serves as a media liaison on the road. Wilson has also served as the editor of the HEAT media guide for each of the past 13 seasons and served six seasons as editor of the HEAT postseason guide.

A 1986 Villanova University graduate, Wilson has spent 25 years in the professional and collegiate athletics field. He began his career as a student manager at Villanova from 1982-1986 and was a member of the staff when the Wildcats captured the 1985 NCAA Championship. After graduation, he served as public relations intern for one season at the Big East Conference in 1987-88. From 1988-93, he was the sports information director at Drexel University before joining the public relations staff of the Philadelphia Phillies in August of 1993, just two months before their World Series appearance. Wilson left the Phillies one year later to become the Men’s Basketball SID at the University of Miami, a position he held for three years. During his tenure at UM, he also served as the Baseball SID and an assistant SID with the Hurricanes’ nationally-ranked football team. He was hired by the Philadelphia 76ers in August of 1997 and spent two seasons as the Manager of Communications before joining the HEAT in August of 1999.

A native of Commack, NY, Wilson currently lives in Miami Beach.
